Seedy Saturday is a much-loved event Lewes people rely on for garden
inspiration and seed swapping in the cold of winter. It is run by a
voluntary committee including someone who takes overall charge of
bookings for stalls and talks, and publicity. Previously there was
someone at the council, but there was little funding last year, so
Common Cause took over running it. Next year they cannot do so, and have
asked for more people to get involved.
The Town
Hall is booked for the first Saturday in February 2013, and the cost of
hiring the space is covered by stall holder fees and income from the
door. What is not covered is time to organise the event, so this has to
be done voluntarily. There should be one central organiser and others to
help.
Common Cause can convene a meeting to discuss this in a
couple of weeks time but will then need to identify people to take the
event forward.
