Council introduces doorstep collection service for pre-loved items

Lewes District Council has teamed up with Anglo Doorstep Collections to provide a service for residents to donate unwanted good-quality household items – adding to a range of services in Lewes that redistribute items to people who need them.

The service can be used to donate clothing, kitchenware, toys appliances and other electricals and toiletries. Just pack up the items you no longer need and book a collection time online at https://anglodoorstepcollections.co.uk/make-a-booking.

As well aiming to reduce the amount of items going to waste by recycling or rehoming them, the Anglo Doorstep Collection service will donate a portion of the proceeds to partnered charities of the donor’s choice.

Other local services to rehome your unwanted items

Freegle – A free online community where you can give away and find ‘stuff’ for free, including the weird and wonderful – from spare bubble-wrap to single wellies (!!). Put items on the site and see if there are any takers! https://www.ilovefreegle.org/

Furniture Now – A local charity that will collect unwanted good-quality furniture and also smaller household goods for low-cost sale at its outlets in Lewes, Eastbourne and Hailsham, and through its online Ebay store. https://www.furniturenow.org.uk

Lewes Carboot Fair – Every Sunday (weather permitting), 7.30am-12.30pm at the Phoenix Car Park (BN7 2RD) behind The Dorset pub. Costs £10 to bring a car and £20 for a van, and free for buyers.
