The L&OVe group welcomed a few new members in October, but
also said farewell to Daron Williams who has put in such a lot of work
with the Group (Daron has returned to the USA to continue his
education).
Several of the new members then participated in a
re-run of the L&OVe workshop on “The local economy: what does Lewes
get from the local environment”. This workshop was held on 25 October
and had 16 participants, including quite a proportion from local
environmental organisations. It was very well received and good feedback
was received to help us develop the workshop as a community engagement
tool in future.
A short report on the workshop will be posted on the L&OVe page of the TTL website.
Members
of the group are drafting text for a ‘poster’ to present the workshop
at a conference on ‘Valuing Ecosystems: Policy, economic and management
interactions’ in Scotland next April.
There have been a number of
developments in the search for funding to help us take the work more
widely into the Lewes Community; and things are looking hopeful on that
score.
There is still no firm arrangements with the Pells Community
Assoc in working with them on exploring the value of the local
environment to their enterprise, but communication is in progress.
The next meeting of the L&OVe Group will be on Wednesday 14 December at 7.30 pm at the Lewes Arms (venue to be confirmed).
