Join Extinction Rebellion in Lewes on Saturday 16th March 2019, meeting at 10.30 for 11am start at Lewes Castle, when they will be holding a funeral procession to symbolise the dying of the Earth. Help bring attention to the climate emergency, and promote a public meeting on the subject (to be held on 28th March at the White Hart hotel.)
Wear black as if in mourning. Bring placards, banners, your voices and your compassion!
At 10.30 we’ll assemble by the bowling green at the Castle Precincts, Lewes.
At 11.00, led by bagpipes, the funeral procession will go from the Castle gate, along the High Street and down School Hill, to Cliffe Bridge.
At 11.30 on Cliffe Bridge, and in a solemn ceremony, the coffin will be laid down. There will be speeches and sharing in a “graveyard of species”, after which we will declare rebellion against the inaction of our leaders in the face of forthcoming catastrophe.
Zu choir will close the event in song.
