The Plastic Free Lewes Pledge invites anyone in Lewes – individuals, shops, cafes, businesses, schools, churches and other organisations – to pledge to reduce their use of single-use plastic.

Plastic Free Lewes logoThe world produces about 400 million tonnes of plastic every year of which around half is used once then thrown away.

Only 9% of plastic ever produced has been recycled – the rest is sent to landfill, incineration or is discarded in the natural environment. Reduced use of single-use plastic is widely seen as the only solution to global plastic pollution.
