Urge your MP to attend the National Emergency Briefing

national emergency briefingA National Emergency Briefing on the climate & nature crisis is taking place on Thursday 27 November at Westminster Central Hall. The event is invitation-only: a non-partisan briefing for 850 politicians and leading voices from business, culture, faith, and the media. Now it’s up to all of us to make sure our MPs attend!

Eight top experts, including Mike Berners-Lee will give an unfiltered and concise assessment of the latest science. Where we are, where we’re heading, and what we can do, in one short authoritative account that will explore the implications for health, food, national security and the economy.

The aim is to trigger a societal tipping point, and for decisive action tackling the crisis to follow.

Who is leading on this?

The National Emergency Briefing is the result of leading experts and concerned citizens joining forces to encourage UK decision-makers to step up their response to the escalating climate and nature crisis. It is spearheaded and funded by brothers Simon and Nick Oldridge, climate funders and science communicators, with a background in business.

In order for this initiative to be a success, it needs to have the backing of the nation.

It already has support from a growing group of trusted organisations, including Wildlife Trusts, the Church of England, National Trust, British Ecological Society, Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and more.

Organisers are also contacting all regional Climate Emergency Centres, to ask for support. The aim is to weave together a coordinated national effort.

How you can help

You can help by using the postcode checker tool on the briefing website to see if your MP is attending the National Emergency Briefing  (ask friends and families in other constituencies to check for their MP too).  If they are not, the tool automatically helps you to write an email urging your MP to attend on 27 November.

The stronger the public pressure on MPs to attend this vital briefing, the better its chance of success.
