The Makers Directory
A brilliant online directory is helping over 450 makers and artists in Lewes and Eastbourne showcase their work, connect directly to customers, offer repair services and invite people to learn new skills, as founding partner Corina Fletcher explains.
The Makers Directory is a searchable hyper-local online directory that was established to celebrate the makers and artists around Lewes and Eastbourne enabling buyers to connect directly for mutual benefit – to shop locally and support local businesses.
We always knew that this is an exceptionally creative part of the world, but since our website and Instagram accounts were launched in March 2021 we are astonished with how quickly the project was embraced by makers and users alike – we now have more than 450 makers and artists listed on the Directory and nearly 3,000 followers on Instagram.

One of the listed makers, Angela Elliott from Elliotts Millinery, said: “I just wanted to say thank you so much for setting up The Makers Directory. It has really made a difference to my business. Not long after adding myself to the Makers Directory I was contacted to make a hat for a wedding in September which was fantastic, and just goes to show how it was already working.”
The Makers Directory is an open resource for anyone to use, is intended to be comprehensive and covers a wide range of disciplines. It also includes craftspeople that offer repairs as part of their service.
