OVESCO: tackling the energy challenge
Climate change, energy prices and concerns over household energy supplies are all over the news right now. Local community energy services company Ovesco is working hard to deliver solutions with three exciting projects.
CommuniHeat is a partnership with the people of Barcombe, Ovesco, Community Energy South, Buro Happold and UK Power Networks to develop a roadmap to enable rural communities to switch to low-carbon heating in a way that ensures comfort, affordability and a smooth transition. Ouse Valley Solar Farm
Ovesco is developing the Ouse Valley Solar Farm, north of Ringmer. The project will generate circa 16MW – the equivalent to power 4,000 homes. The solar farm will bring awareness of the need to reduce carbon emissions and to promote biodiversity as well as numerous education and environmental benefits to the community and wider area.
Lewes District Council has declared a climate emergency and laid out plans to reach carbon neutrality by 2030. Ouse Valley Solar Farm will add to local energy security, make a significant contribution to achieving the carbon reduction commitments of Lewes District and provide a long-term annual benefit fund for the community. Ovesco will have an information open days in Ringmer and in Lewes during the week starting 8th November. For more information go to https://ovesco.co.uk/ouse-valley-solar-farm/
Ovesco are setting up an eCargo Bike scheme in Lewes which aims to roll out a zero carbon delivery service, a ‘try before you buy’ offer and the use of eCargo bikes for community purposes. We have our first bike and will be promoting the scheme over the next few months. The scheme is supported by Lewes District Council and the Energy Saving Trust.
We will be holding our annual AGM via zoom for our local investors on Wednesday 27 October, so look out for our latest newsletter. Learn more at www.ovesco.co.uk
