Twenty three people signed up to the project on a beautiful hot afternoon. They received one or two “retired” recycling boxes (thank you Lewes District Council) filled with compost (thank you Lewes Garden Centre for the discount), seeds as well as guidance on how to grow some of the most successful veg in containers. They will have access to advice and support from an experienced gardener as well.
There was a lovely atmosphere as an enthusiastic group of people of all ages chose what seeds to grow while enjoying a cup of tea and some homemade cake and biscuits. A local pre-school and a business have also signed up to grow veg and next year we hope to involve more groups in this project.
