Lewes Eco Open Houses is back again to show off low energy sustainable homes and inspire visitors. We are looking for a few volunteers for each house to help our homeowners with the general running of the day.

Twelve green houses and a community cinema in Lewes and Plumpton will be opening their doors to the public showing how energy use can be cut by up to 80 or 90%! The trail includes ingenious solutions to energy and water use even in the oldest houses, as well as fascinating new builds that show advanced green technology at work. Event brochure here…

This is a very sociable event and volunteering will mostly involve chatting to members of the public and helping to show them round. Each house has printed case studies for visitors to pick up as well as other photos and information about what has been done. If you have some experience of insulation or renewable energy that would be great, but no expertise is needed, just enthusiasm for sustainable living!

Houses are open from 1 -5 and if you want to see what’s available, have a look at the website which has lots of information on this year’s houses (or will very soon!) www.lewesecoopenhouses.org.uk

Volunteers find it fascinating talking to the householders and learning what they’ve done and why. The visitors are also really interesting and it’s great to hear about their projects too.
