Monday 23 May, 17.30, County Hall, Lewes
Green Party District Councillors are bringing a ‘motion’ to demand Southern Water come clean on the impact of new development on sewage discharge into our rivers and seas. You’re invited to join a photocall at County Hall to show your support – feel free to be creative!
Green Party District Councillors are bringing a ‘motion’ to make Lewes District the first authority in the UK that asks its local water company (Southern Water) to come clean on the impact of new development on sewage discharge into rivers and seas, when responding to planning applications.
Everyone who would like to show their support for this motion is invited to turn up for a press photocall at 5.30pm sharp on Monday 23 May at the entrance to County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes.
Green Party District Councillor Emily O’Brien says: “Please come and show your support and/or spread the word. Bring placards and banners, and feel free to be creative – we’d love to see some pictures of ‘motions’, and perhaps a few toilets, or threatened species like our local sea trout.”
We need to drive home the message that it’s time to recognise the links between new development and the untreated sewage ending up in our rivers and seas.”
