Free bike security marking

Wednesday 7 and Saturday 10 September

Cycle Lewes are holding two more of their sessions in September where cyclists can get their bike security-marked for free to deter theft. Click for dates, times and venues.

Cycle theft is on the rise, with a growing market in second-hand bikes. Cycle Lewes is encouraging everyone who has a bike in Lewes to lock it securely and log it with ‘Bike Register’ to deter theft.

To help, it’s been holding regular sessions where anyone can get their bike marked and centrally registered for free

September’s sessions are:

Wednesday 7 September, 3-5pm – Bell Lane Recreation Ground, Winterbourne

Saturday 10 September, 10-12 noon – Malling Community Centre

Cycle Lewes offers these tips for keeping your bike safe:

  • Register your bike directly at www.bikeregister.com or via a Cycle Lewes event
  • Lock in a visible, secure and well-lit location
  • Use a good quality lock/s
  • Make sure you lock both wheels and frame, if you can to an immovable, solid object such as a bike stand
  • Keep a record of your frame number, a description and photo

And if your bike is stolen:
