OVESCO ‘2nd Use Solar’ project has 100 second hand 250W solar PV panels and they are looking for a new use for the solar panels. The panels are from Chailey School and belong OVESCO. They were decommissioned, because East Sussex County Council (ESCC) are demolishing the existing school and building a new school on the same site. ESCC said this would not be possible to install the panels on the new school roof. So OVESCO was compensated and as part of the agreement removed the panels, which are currently stored in Lewes.

Get in touch with OVESCO, if you have a project which could benefit from ‘2nd Use Solar’.

Your project should:

  • Ideally used for a 12 Volt supply i.e. not connected to the grid.
  • Used for community benefit or for educational purposes.
  • Applications should be for projects either in the Lewes District/Eastbourne area, or from members of Community Energy South.
  • Not require the Feed-in Tariff (2nd hand panels cannot benefit from the FiTs)
If your project idea is sucessful you will need to:
  • Collect the panels from Lewes.
  • Safely Install them yourself or get someone to install them for you.

To apply to ‘2nd Use Solar’ simply write to OVESCO at hello@ovesco.co.uk and write up to 200 words on how you would use the solar panels. If you have a great idea OVESCO will gift the panels to your project. If you want to buy the panels for a commercial project, which returns an income, OVESCO will request a donation, which will be used for their Sunny Solar Schools.

All applications to be received by 31st January 2020 and OVESCO will inform sucessful applicants within 2 weeks of the closing date
